Rodale Institute uses a unique method for weed control in organic no-till corn and soybean production. This method involves rolling a dense cover crop and planting a cash crop into the mulch layer. When unexpected weather conditions lead to weed infestation, an innovative tractor-mounted implement called a high residue cultivator is used to manage the weeds. This cultivator cuts through the mulch to create a path for sweeps to cut weed tops from their roots.
