MALMESBURY Cotswolds England - A tour of the town

We visit Malmesbury in The Cotswolds England to see what this lovely Cotswold market town is like, and to visit the famous Malmesbury abbey and walk the historic town streets. If you are looking to travel for a Cotswolds holiday then Malmesbury is a must visit place, Malmesbury is a market town in Wiltshire, England. It's nestled quite nicely in the Cotswolds on the top of a (very steep!) hill. It's famous for being the town where King Athelstan the first king of England is buried. You can visit his tomb in Malmesbury Abbey (as you can see in this video). It's our first visit to Malmesbury and we 'enjoy' a stroll uphill towards the Abbey, passing the Smoking Dog pub and other shops, hotels and restaurants that are situated in the town centre. We visit the Market Square and Market Cross which is a historic grade II listed structure and worth looking at if you visit here. The town is home to the tomb of King Athelstan in the Abbey where he is buried. It's definitely worth a visit to the Abbey to enjoy a quiet wander, and to have tea and cake in the Abbey gardens courtesy of the lovely cafe there. This town is a must visit for anyone looking for a day trip or holiday in the Cotswolds, England.
