Alnwick is a historic market town located in Northumberland, England, and it serves as the traditional county town. It's a place rich in history, with its roots tracing back to around AD 600. A central feature of Alnwick is, of course, Alnwick Castle. This impressive medieval structure has been the home of the Percy family, the Dukes of Northumberland, since 1309. It's a significant historical landmark and a major tourist attraction. The castle's grounds are also noteworthy, having been landscaped by Capability Brown. Beyond its historical significance, Alnwick has gained considerable recognition for its role in popular culture. Alnwick Castle was used as a filming location for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the early Harry Potter films. This has drawn many fans to the town, eager to see the familiar settings from the movies. Visitors can even participate in "broomstick training" on the very grounds where Harry Potter learned to fly. In addition to the castle, another well known attraction is The Alnwick Garden. This is a modern and dynamic garden that features a variety of attractions, including a grand cascade and the intriguing Poison Garden.
