If you have NEVER fired the Makarov before please read on. How not to hold the Makarov pistol while shooting. If you are not careful you'll get a slide bite from the slide moving to the rear after the Makarov discharges the 9x18 round. Shown is the bulgarian version of the Russian designed 9mm pistol. The dots on the rear sights are 'glow in the dark' from the web site "makarov.com" which sadly is no longer updated but is still up for information. I removed the BARREL SPRING for this demonstration, to show how the slide moves back when discharged. This demonstration can be applied to most firearms with a slide, and the part of the hand that is between the web of the thumb and index finger. ALWAYS pick-up a firearm as if it was loaded, check the barrel and magazine well for ammo. With a revolver, open the cylinder & and check for rounds that are loaded.
