A fresh political controversy has erupted in Karnataka over allegations related to rural development funds. Questions are being raised about the utilisation of nearly ₹4050 crore allocated to the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department for road development in rural areas.According to reports, the Karnataka government had announced funds in the state budget for improving rural infrastructure. The allocation was made during the tenure of Siddaramaiah, with the funds meant to support development projects under the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department.However, several MLAs have now questioned the department about the utilisation of the funds between 2023 and 2026. Opposition leaders, including Araga Jnanendra, Siddaramaiah Savadi, and Surendra Belda, have alleged that road development projects in their constituencies have not progressed despite the huge allocation.The issue has also put pressure on minister Priyank Kharge, whose department is being questioned over the alleged lack of transparency in fund utilisation. Over 20 MLAs reportedly raised questions in the assembly seeking details about the status of the projects.
