The machines used for producing plastic film are called blown film machines or blown film extruders. The production process begins with placing plastic pellets into a hopper. The material enters the machine as the extruder screw rotates. The plastic pellets get mixed and melted. Next, the material is filtered to remove any minor impurities, and then it moves to the die head, where the melt comes out through a circular gap. Then the material is blown upwards by an air ring creating a bubble. This bubble gets cooled as it goes up the machine and is flattened by rollers at the top, creating a tubular film. The film continues to move to the take-up unit of the machine to get cooled further.
