This is a recording of EGEC’s live webinar, which took place on the 6th of February 2026, jointly organised with BVEG and DGMK, on one of the most critical moments in any deep geothermal project: managing risk during the drilling and testing phase. With 600+ registrants, it was a record for an EGEC webinar! This session discussed the latest regulatory and support developments in Germany, why structured approaches are unlocking more bankable deep geothermal projects, and a clear walk-through of the BVEG and DGMK guideline “Risk management during the drilling and testing phase of deep geothermal projects” The discussion is rounded out with reflections on standards and guidelines from France, the Netherlands and Austria, highlighting what can be replicated across Europe. The webinar is a part of EGEC's promotional campaign for simplifying permitting for geothermal projects and covers all geothermal technologies. The aim is t promote the adaption of relevant legislation and the adoption of new soft measures such as standards, codes and guidelines for geothermal energy.
