Blue cheese special! Today I look at a whole group of amazing cheeses - those with a blue vein. Roquefort is one of the most popular cheeses in the world with it's amazing heritage and character - but is it "The King Of Cheese"? Long Clawson is one of just a handful of dairies entitled to make the classic English blue, Stilton. A robust cheese that never backs down from the first salty touch to the lingering blue bitterness, all perfectly balanced. Italy's delectable Gorgonzola Dolce may look a little like Roquefort, but they are quite dissimilar. The cream sweetness of this gooey cheese balanced with a delicate accent of blue punctuation. What a cheese! Shropshire Blue may sound like a heritage, artisanal cheese from an ancient dairy but is relatively a new kid on the block. This certainly does not mean that it lacks breeding, character or balance. A fantastic alternative to Stilton for those who find Stilton just a little too much. Finally, our Scandinavian guest and a personal favourite of mine, Danish Blue or Danblu. I falsely claim in the video that this cheese does not have any protection of origin but I was quite incorrect! This is another salty, full flavoured blue but once again, balance and character save the day and provide a unique experience. I hope you enjoy the video as much as I did filming (and eating!)
