You can play the newest demo for Rollin' Rascal from here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/27... https://rollinrascal.com/ It feels so good being a fan of both Sonic The Hedgehog and high speed platformers in general right now, it almost makes me tear up. Even the most jaded Sonic fans (I know I was during the Sonic Forces launch), has something to sink their teeth in, be it from the franchise itself or the plethora of indie games that put their own creative spin on high speed platforming or even the Sonic gameplay formula as a whole, be it 2D or especially 3D. And this holds especially true for Rollin' Rascal (previously known as Project Rascal), this bouncy boy got his footing into the indie scene thanks to the devs being known for working on a beloved Sonic fangame called Sonic GT, before rebranding and expanding to their own company known as Curiomatic. Not only that, but thanks to a very successful Kickstarter campaign and really involved campaign to promote their game, I can only see great things ahead of them with their game, (especially now since Curiomatic is looking to hire voice actors for Rollin' Rascal). I could draw comparisons to Sonic games, but instead I'll actually compare Rollin' Rascal to another 3D indie high speed platformer, Spark The Electric Jester 3. Both have an insane focus on momentum buildup and fast platforming via clever use of speed, level design and out-of-the-box thinking from the player, Rollin' Rascal even more so than Spark 3. Level design is probably RR's strong suit, even though there are 2 main levels (and some multiplayer ones), they are designed with replayability and player expression in mind. Spark 3 also has very well designed levels, but I think RR edges Spark 3 in that department. That said movement, probably the most important factor for a 3D high speed platformer goes to Spark 3... though it's not fair in RR's favor as this game is still in alpha state, while Spark TEJ 3 is a fully finished game. There's still some jankiness to Rascal's movement, particularly in how the camera works when speed escalates and during loops, not properly keeping up during those points. Still room left for improvement in that regard. Also, I wish Rollin' Racal would implement a ranking system for each level based on style, not just based on getting the fastest time, which would allow players to play more stylishly, not just efficiently fast. The game already grades you star points during each level run, based on the cool tricks you do, but they don't tally up to anything at the end of the level, other than just a number. It's still an alpha demo, so maybe they will be fully implemented in the full game, who knows. Either way, Rollin' Rascal is looking mighty good and mighty promising right now. 0:00 Intro And Menu 0:34 Buccaneer's Beach 5:30 Wild Waste 11:50 Cloudtop Circuit 15:42 Donut Derby 18:12 Ship n' Slide 21:22 Slide Show Shuffle _____________________________________________________________________________ My Playlists: Sonic Fangames • Sonic Fangames Random Stuff • Random stuff Sonic Robo Blast 2 • Sonic Robo Blast 2 Transformers Devastation • TRANSFORMERS: Devastation Devil May Cry • Devil May Cry Racing Games • Racing games Sonic Mania • Sonic Mods Music Swaps: • Gameplay Music Swaps Music Mashups • Плейлист _______________________________________________________________________________ My Twitter: / marius_rednblue My Steam Page: https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/7... #indiegame #sage2025 #sonic #sonicfangame #sonicthehedgehog
