In this the latest webinar in the TDL autumn series, we were led by the frequent observation that the output in AI applications is as good as the underlying data. While there are other contributing factors, data is of paramount importance. During the webinar, the panellists discussed some high level requirements for AI data governance, including accuracy, completeness, consistency and provenance. They also touched upon issues such as mitigation of bias including geographical and temporal coverage and continuous balance monitoring and talked about standardised data formats, data sourcing, the role of synthetic data, data security, access requirements and data classification for datasets without PII (personally identifiable information). Other data governance issues, such as ethics and privacy, will be addressed during a future webinar. The distinguished speakers were: Vigdis Broder, Counsel, Biddle Law PC Josh Eckroth, Chief Research Engineer, i2k Connect; Research Scientist, Stetson University Rohit Israni, Founder and CEO, Certient AI; Chair AI Standards US (INCITS) Chris Kenyon, Honorary Associate Professor, Mathematics, University College London Athina Makropoulou, Professor, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS), UC Irvine Janne Uusilehto, Global Leader in AI Governance, Privacy, and Security Engineering This session was moderated by TDL strategic advisor, Claire Vishik.
