Rebuild I.              THE BURDEN COMES BEFORE THE BUILDING (Nehemiah 1:4) ·      Nehemiah was not a preacher. ·      Nehemiah was not a prophet. ·      Nehemiah was not a king. ·      He was just a cupbearer, but when he heard of the brokenness of Jerusalem, the bible says he: a.   Wept b.   Mourned c.    Fasted d.   Prayed ·      Where are the Nehemiah’s today? The ones that have a burden for: 1.   The broken walls in our families. 2.   The broken, torn-down morality of our communities. 3.   The broken walls in our church. 4.   The broken lives are scattered with pain. ·      PENTECOSTAL POWER BEGINS WHEN SOMEONE GETS A REAL GOD CENTERED BURDEN. REVIVAL, RENEWAL, RESTORATION, AND RECONCILIATION DOESN’T COME TO THE CASUAL AND COMFORTABLE; IT COMES TO THE HUNGRY, THE DESPERATE, THE INTERCESSORS WHO CRY OUT, “LORD, REBUILD THE RUINS, AND REPAIR THE WALLS IN OUR LIVES”.   II.            GOD USES THE WILLING, NOT JUST THE QUALIFIED ·      Nehemiah saw the problem, but he didn’t just sit in the palace. He took action by: a.   He got permission from the King of Persia. b.   He gathered resources and mobilized a crew to build. c.    He faced opposition and resistance with faithful perseverance. d.   He stepped out in faith and operated in faith. ·      God is still asking today, “Who will go for Me? “Who will rise and say, “Let us rebuild?” ·      You don’t need a seminary degree. You don’t need to be on the church payroll. All you need is a humble “YES” in your spirit, and the anointing of the Holy Spirit. ·      SAY THIS: “I might not be qualified, but I’m called”.   III.          OPPOSITION IS INEVITABLE, BUT SO IS VICTORY (Nehemiah 4:1-3, 6, 9) ·      Sanballat and Tobiah mocked Nehemiah and the work of restoration. “Even a fox climbing on it would break down their wall”, they said. ·      LISTEN: Any time you try to rebuild something God cares about, the devil will start talking. a.   He will mock. b.   He will accuse. c.    He will discourage. ·      But Nehemiah said in chapter 4:6, “So we rebuilt the wall till all of it reached its height, for the people worked with all their heart”. ·      He didn’t fight fire with fire – he fought with: 1.   Prayer (built an altar first) 2.   Strategy: Nehemiah 4:17, “Those who built on the wall, and those who carried burdens, loaded themselves so that with one hand they worked at construction, and with the other held a weapon”. ·      PENTECOSTAL POWER DOESN’T RUN FROM THE BATTLE – IT STANDS IN THE SPIRIT AND SAYS, “NO WEAPON FORMED AGAINST ME SHALL PROSPER”.   IV.         GOD FINISHES WHAT HE STARTS Nehemiah 6:15-16 “So the wall was completed in 52 days… and all the surrounding nations were afraid and lost their self-confidence, because they realized that this work had been done with the help of our God”. ·      INTERNATIONAL PRAISE, GOD IS A FINISHER. “Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ”. (Philippians 1:6-7 CONCLUSION: • Are there broken walls in your life? • Have your spiritual gates been burned by disappointment, sin, or fear? • Today, like Nehemiah, God is calling you, and He is calling us to rebuild the ruins with prayer, with power, and with purpose. • The altar is the place where we can receive our God sized burden; receive anointing, and begin a new work today “Not by might, not by power, but by My Spirit,” says the Lord!
