EEG Headset to Electric Wheelchair Mini-Project - ECE362

Created using an Emotiv Insight headset, we were able to train a basic push command, use accelerometer data, and use facial movement detection data to control a small RC car. Successful completion of this project required 3 nights without sleep. The original plan was to interface with a full sized Hoveround electric wheelchair we bought on craigslist; unfortunately, we fried the circuit board of the chair's joystick a few hours before our project due date. We pivoted and managed to redesign our hardware to accommodate a small RC car. The Emotiv Insight was difficult to calibrate, so we had to create a python script to more accurately interpret the raw data coming from the headset. Microcontroller used: HCS12. The car also has some extra features, including an optical sensor on the wheel that functions through the pulse accumulator to measure speed.
