Did you know that during the Joseon Dynasty, there was a hanok that realized 'separate but together'? Kim Myeong-gwan‘s Historic House in Jeongeup was built by Kim Myeong-gwan when he was 17 years old. It took him 10 years to complete the house in 1794, which is made of 99 rooms. It is "Anchae" that becomes the center of the house in a natural space where all the yards exists in unity like the stream of water. The main building of Kim Myeong-gwan's old house has a unique structure, unlike any other hanok. The house is in ㄷ shape. The structure in which the space of mother-in-law and daughter-in-law are perfectly symmetrical.
