The Caravan Of Dreams in Fort Worth, Texas was the finest jazz club in America in the 1990's. On the night of November 17, 1991 tenor sax player, James Clay assembled a quintet of his favorite musician friends for a performance at the Caravan. The rhythm section had William Richardson on drums, Buddy Mohmed on bass, and Roger Boykin on piano. Ted Neely, the Norfolk, Virginia native played trumpet. Boykin asked that the music be recorded for posterity. The house sound engineer, Conan Reynolds made an analog recording and gave it him. Roger later transferred it to a digital format with the intention of releasing it on CD for his Soultex Records label. That never happened. This exciting version of the Miles Davis standard, Walkin' is presented here for your ears. It is infused with what some jazz players refer to as, "Spangalang." It cooks from beginning to end with exciting solos by the members of the band. Enjoy and be happy that you can feel that you were at the Caravan on that magical night in 1991.
