This is the second in a short series I am doing regarding the different genres and types of experimental cinema, from the abstract to the avant-garde. In Episode 2, I discuss what an abstract film does and what makes an abstract film, then as a special treat, I project a reel of a student animation film hand-drawn onto the filmstock itself - one of a kind footage which is a very good and unique example of abstract filmmaking. Links to films mentioned: N:O:T:H:I:N:G by Paul Sharits: https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=... Mothlight by Stan Brakhage: • 1963 Mothlight Autumnal Equinox by Hollis Frampton: • Hollis Frampton - Autumnal Equinox (1974) This series will be a good one to watch if you are just new to the concepts of experimental film. While I am certainly not much of a filmmaker yet, I have seen many experimental films and understand quite well the concepts, as well as the fact I am introducing new concepts in my own body of work (most of which is not good enough to officially release). The next one in the series will be about the avant-garde film, although be patient as I have other things I want to upload as well (it might be about a month before I get the next one available). Check out my own experimental films and maybe look at my page on the Filmmaker's Cooperative, listed in my channel links. I am going to make more of my films available for rent there at some point - right now I am in the middle of a significant project which will not be up on YouTube fully for some time. Subscribe if you want too, it would be nice but I know most of you aren't going to so I'll shut up.
