In this next video in our SIZA Member Testimonials series, Koos Möller from Silwerstroom explains to us how SIZA’s independence from the audit and complaints process helps his workers. Silwerstroom Boerdery is located in the picturesque Witzenberg valley near the town of Wolseley in the Western Cape and has been farmed by the Möller family for two generations. Years ago, they farmed mainly with vegetables and vineyards, but over the years it was phased out and fruit trees were planted. The farm now mainly focuses on the export of pears, plums, and peaches. If all goes according to plan, their son Jacques, who is currently studying agriculture, will hopefully take over the business in a few years. In addition to farming, Silwerstroom runs a guest business, Arum Lily, which has 5 self-catering log cabins located on the dam, where visitors can rest on the farm among the fruit trees.
