In 2014, a multi-colored stuffed toy was thrown at a One Direction concert... and the saga of Rainbow Bndage Bear was born. Though now almost exclusively associated with relationship belief systems within the fandom, when RBB (and later SBB) first made their appearances, Directioners of all biases and beliefs loved them and participated in the hunt for them at every show. It was a fandom-wide phenomenon and a hilarious mascot for tour! The mystery of who was behind the bears and the parsing out of what the scenes and costumes referenced was tourtime tradition. And while new fans may find it difficult to perceive the bears outside the lens of theory and conspiracy, OGs who were in the fandom during the WWA and OTRA tours will be the first to say that RBB and SBB were were as much a part of the 1D Tour Season experience as merch was, were just as much a significant part of our fan experience as Hobama, and thus will always have a special place in our hearts.
