This is NOT a Sonic Mania mod NOR is it just Sonic Mania. ↓ Open the description for more details ↓ Aurum's Hatch Engine coupled with the OpenMania framework is an extremely powerful tool for bringing Sonic fangames, or any 2D game, to fruition. I wanted to make this video so more people could see and use this to bring their ideas to life. There's support for a wild amount of filetypes and can also read Retro Engine files in addition to others like Tiled levels. This video is running from Sonic Mania's data file. Mania Mods can be ported to this engine with little to no effort. You may also be familiar with this engine from Sonic Galactic. This engine is an evolution of two previous versions of the Impostor Engine (also made by Aurum) with Sonic fangames in mind, but could definitely be used for other types of games. Aurum went on to aid in the development of Penny's Big Breakaway at Evening Star. I am now creating a new Sonic fangame using this engine with my previous knowledge of the Retro Engine. I would love to talk to anybody about this engine and to consult each other when we have issues! I certainly need help programming and I also love talking about this game as it progresses. My Discord is Axanery. Tutorial to get it up and running: 1. Get the Hatch Game Engine (https://github.com/aknetk/HatchGameEn...) and OpenMania framework (https://github.com/aknetk/OpenMania) 2. Build Hatch in VS2019, 2022, or 2026 (the project file is in the VisualC folder) as x64 Debug or Release 3. Extract Sonic Mania's Data.rsdk file ( • Sonic Mania Plus Modding Tutorial #2 - How... ) 4. Put the new Data folder in the same folder as Hatch and rename the Data folder to Resources 4. Put OpenMania's contents in the same folder as the newly built Hatch executable and Resources folder 6. Ensure the Resources folder, Scripts folder, and the executable are all in the same folder Aurum's Channel: / aurumvg Aurum's Twitter: / aknetk Retro Engine Modding Discord - https://dc.railgun.works/RetroEngine Bluesky - https://bsky.app/profile/axanery.bsky...
