Riva Bahn Express (Lift #6) is a four-person detachable chairlift located at Vail Ski Resort. The lift runs from Vail Village up to near the bottom of the Highline Express (#10) and Northwoods Express (#11) chairlifts on the eastern half of the ski resort. The lift serves as the primary connection between the eastern portions of Vail Village, Golden Peak, and the rest of the resort. Skiers and riders may ride this chairlift in both directions, allowing an alternative to the long traverse back to the village, where snow conditions can vary in the early and late season. The lift features a mid-station on Golden Peak, where guests may unload but not load the chairlift in both directions. The chairlift was manufactured by Garaventa CTEC and installed at the resort in 1996, replacing the 1967 Golden Peak Riblet double chairlift. Vail Ski Resort is a ski resort located in Vail, Colorado. The resort is located in Western Colorado in Eagle County, about a 90-minute drive west of Denver and a 35-minute drive east of the Eagle County Airport on Interstate 70. Vail is one of the largest ski areas in North America and one of the most popular ski areas worldwide. The resort is known for its vast network of trails, a large variety of terrain, being easy to access, and extensive base villages. The front side of the resort features a variety of below treeline terrain, both groomed and ungroomed, for skiers of all ability levels, while the resort's backside features the famous Back Bowls, a large expanse of mostly treeless terrain, and Blue Sky Basin which features a variety of tree and mogul runs. The resort also features two large villages, Vail and Lionshead, with each offering a large selection of lodging, dining, and shopping options. The resort is the namesake of its parent company, Vail Resorts, offering full Epic Pass holders unlimited access to the resort, with Base and discount pass holders receiving 10 days of blackout-restricted access to the resort.
