Sacrifices Can Not Sustain Relationships!

Some claim betrayal, even after they've made sacrifices for a partner; despite loving the partner. This conversation invites us to consider the notion that sometimes, the narrative that sounds like a sacrifice made for the benefit of a loved one, may not exactly be as it seems at first glance. The sacrifice may actually be an unconscious/silent pay-off, in order to secure or fulfil an expectation from said partner. The question is, would they still make the same sacrifices if they didn't hope the effort would sway the partner's affections for them? Would they make the effort or sacrifice anyway? It is crucial to examine how we would act, if there was no pay off for our sacrifice. This clarity goes a long way in helping to mitigate the pain and disappointment of unmet expectations. Especially if such expectations are not something the other partner would ordinarily want to meet. Being a "good' partner in a relationship is a beautiful attribute; however, being the "good' partner in a relationship, where the other party isn't reciprocating, is already a clear signal that the relationship isn't balanced and that disappointment is likely around the corner.
