If you're dealing with pet loss and you're like me, your heart is probably breaking with grief. In this video, I am sharing with you a way you can create a piece of art that captures your passed pets essence in a way that is healing for you and also provides you with a very special piece of art you can keep to celebrate their life and your love for them. In this video I am creating an expressive abstract piece that captures the essence of our dog Texas who passed on to the other side just over 1 week ago. This process was a loving and healing way for me to express myself and honour our much loved boy. I hope you decide to give it a try for yourself. As mentioned in the video, I wanted to give you a couple of ideas of how you may like to express certain types of energy/ characteristics: Calm and peaceful: Big slow swooping brushstrokes Excited and high energy: Quick brush strokes, splats of paint Joyful: Spots of ink, or alcohol dropped into wet ink/ paint portraying bubbles of joy. Colour! Colour is a great way to illustrate joy. Portraying the size of your pet: Large - Large bodies of paint, large brush strokes, large drops of ink... Small - Small bodies of paint, smaller brush strokes, etc Think about your pets fur and how you could emulate that without drawing actual fur. Did they have spots? Patches? bring those into your piece Think about the colour of your pet and bringing those colours to your piece (and colours that you associate with your pet) Really think about and write down a list of things about their personality, how they made you feel, things you associate with them; as well as their physical appearance. This list will help guide you along your creation process.
