Nova Varoš (Serbian Cyrillic: Нова Варош) is a town and municipality in Zlatibor District of Serbia. According to the 1991 census, the municipality of Nova Varoš had a population of 21,812, while according to the 2002 census, the number of inhabitants in the municipality was 19,982. The town of Nova Varoš itself had a population of 10,335 in 2002. Zlatar (Serbian Cyrillic: Златар) is a mountain in western Serbia, between towns of Prijepolje and Nova Varoš. Its highest peak Velika Krševa has an altitude of 1625 meters above sea level. It belongs to Stari Vlah group of Dinaric Alps. Zlatar is bounded by rivers Uvac, Lim, Mileševka and Bistrica, and has a total of four artificial lakes -- Zlatar Lake, Radoinjsko Lake, Uvac Lake and Potpeć.[2] Mountainous climate with significant mediterannean influence, dense pine forests, and a high number of sunny days, is suitable for medicinal purposes and altitude training. At the altitude of 1237 meters, there is a Special Rehabilitation Hospital "Zlatar" with 330 beds.
