Optics and Photonics Technology Degree at STCC | Connecting Point | Feb. 27, 2019

As Connecting Point reported earlier this month, there are many career opportunities in precision manufacturing, but companies are struggling to find skilled workers to fill available jobs. Springfield Technical Community College offers students the region’s only optics and photonics technology degree program. Photonics technology is used in everything from the scanner at the supermarket to laser surgery. Carolee McGrath sat down with the director of the department, Dr. Nick Massa, and student Doug Bednarczyk to learn more about the industry and career opportunities.
