6:14 - Battle There's new scenes at the start of this, one taking place before the battle, where we actually see Byleth joining up with Claude. The result of this is Claude turning on us in this stage and it becoming a 3-way fight. Which makes this battle much more fun and unique. This is definitely the biggest change you get from not recruiting Byleth in the entire game. Oh, and I'm playing this on Maddening. We start sandwiched between the Kingdom and Alliance. First, we advance on both of them and push back their lines. Flayn will start healing in the top left again, so we need to take her out. Then Felix will appear, followed by Sylvain. After we've dealt a number to the Kingdom, Claude ambushes the center. Hilda will also appear shortly after, and she can be made to retreat by using a strategy. I believe she'll die if you don't use it, but I didn't play this stage twice just to check that. Seteth will appear next, and once you've dealt with him, Dimitri and Claude will both leave their main camps and start to quickly take bases. Defeat both of them and Byleth will finally appear as the last commander. Also, I played as the Gatekeeper here. He's a character you can only get on your next playthrough after you've cleared all 3 routes and gotten him to appear in the camp. It doesn't have to all be on the same save file either. Gatekeeper The Gatekeeper is...bland, gameplay-wise. He's got mediocre stats in everything so his lower damage output really shows on harder difficulties. I had him use Spear of Assal here so he had advantage over most enemies but it still took him a while to get kills here compared to other characters. He does, however, get access to a bunch of hidden abilities from maxing classes and some of those are pretty good. They can be stuff like increasing attack range or increasing all damage while not mounted. He's also the only character with a unique musou for the dismounted lance user classes. Really no reason to use him over another lance user, unless you put a crap ton of investment in him to make his stats catch up to where those unique abilities of his can be put to proper use. But the novelty of it is amusing. I forgot to mention that characters have hidden abilities they can unlock by maxing certain classes during the course of all these videos, but that's because I hardly ever got any of them. And the class promotion screen doesn't tell you what classes grant what hidden abilities, you know, them being hidden and all. And some of them are duds, like I know I got Shez's hidden ability but I can't even remember what it was because I just dismissed it immediately for not being as good as the other skills she had access to.
