My overall theme for August might be summed up in the phrase: “the slippery slide from mystical revelation to barbaric theocracies.” Today, I will focus on “creating sacred space” and next week I will focus on “corrupting sacred space.” Plant medicine aficionados say that there are four S’s in a plant medicine ceremony: Set (mindset), Setting (environment), Substance (the entheogen) and Sitter (the shaman/priest). Using those categories, I go on to look at the phenomenon of morphogenetic fields which create Altered States of Consciousness.
