Although rare, developing bile duct cancer is one of the biggest fears of people living with PSC. There is an urgent need to develop a readily available and robust test to confidently detect bile duct cancer in people with PSC and identify those at greatest risk. Prof Bañales and Dr Rodrigues are from the Biodonostia Health Research Institute - Donostia University in Spain. Professor Bañales was the co-founder and coordinator of the international European Network for the Study of Cholangiocarcinoma (ENSCCA) from 2016 to 2022, and is currently the coordinator of the Group of Cancer of the International PSC Study Group (IPSCSG).
