OK, first things first: please don't start making request, these compilations were just something I want to upload. The timestamps will be written down at the bottom of the description.. Onto the music.. This is the fifth volume of the USA editions, the first half of the 10 USA imports and oh boy, Disco Kandi!! This album is half filled with tracks from The Mix: 2009 (HK#85) (which seems pretty much like Disco Kandi in the mix) presented in its full glory along with tracks soon to be used in another album (e.g. Twisted Disco HK#87 and The Mix Spring 2009 HK#89) and some new tracks in its original or new remixed form. Like The 2009 Mix, this album contains a lot of house classics with a new funky mix. Thoughts? This album is quite commercially fun! If picking up Disco Kandi 2006, it's probably slightly less twisted but still has a handful of moderately tough electro anthems. It also sounds a little less commercial in comparison with a small pinch of soulful U.S. Garage, harder gospel house, delicious grooves, disco bumps, splashing grooves, electrical synths, harder gospel house, grubby filter house to funky French House, twisted effects, moody breakdowns, scratching electronics, skeletal disco beats and sizzling basslines - all things stylish! I like it! It's not my top favourite Disco Kandi album, I don't think but.. I like it so much! It's not too overly soft, diva-ish, cheesy and innocent like Heaven can be and its not too raw, minimal, thick and less fun like Twisted can be but it still collects those elements whilst filing something moderate in between, so it kind of got grounded by those two themes. The advantage this album has from the already have tracks that appeared on The Mix it's that it's been unmixed and extended so there is a difference. Also, there's also quite a number of new tracks here, good tracks too, so this album could still hold its own candle, Disco Heaven 2008 (HK#84) was loaded enough to be Siamese twin with Stereo Sushi 14, so there you go. Disco Kandi is a long favourite Kandi theme of mine among the rest. Whether a Disco Kandi album delivered or disappoints, it still has an interesting element of funky disco and electronic house - as its says in its usual description "Stylish House Music" after Disco Heaven nabbed "Sexiest Disco House" (I still find the music of Kandi sexier than Heaven). If no one has this edition than Disco Kandi: The Mix (HK#67) will be the last ever, Disco Kandi album - but Disco Kandi hasn't exactly gone away. There are still many tracks on The Mix albums that has a section of Disco Kandi (The Mix: 2008, The Mix: Summer 2008, Disco Heaven 2011) or section of tracks that screams Disco Kandi (The Mix: 2009, Spring 2009, Summer 2009, Ibiza 2010, The Remix: 2011, Ibiza 2011, The Mix 2013, The Mix: 2014, Pure Kandi, A Taste Of Kandi: Summer 2011 & Winter 2009, 2010, 2012) and for me, it generally turns out to be my favourite disc. Even an amazon reviewer accused the disc one of Beach House 2011 being Disco Kandi. Disco Kandi started in 2000 and like Disco Heaven and most notably Twisted Disco, all these themes begins to toughen up and when Disco Kandi does start to toughen up, that's when there's a room for its identity to live on a little more rather than being mugged off by Disco Heaven. When Hed Kandi started doing a Mix album, Kandi was ditched in favour for Heaven and Twisted and Classics (Back To Love), but when Mark Doyle ran Fierce Angel, albums like Tokyo Project, Tokyo Disco and Es Vive: Ibiza, it was clear the second section was Disco Kandi to rightfully prepare solid funky disco house and steer it to darker progressive house.
