How to age wood like a restorer (European handypeople)

In this video we show you how to treat natural wood to age it through dye, Betún de Judea (or black walnut ink) and wax. We begin by doing a edge molding with a router on the board to round it, smooth it out and make it look not just cut. Then we sand the surface to homogenize it and open the pore of the wood so that the dye can penetrate better. We apply a coat of dye of the color we choose. Once dry, we hit the wood to create marks and damage it, to imitate the action of time. We also make some holes on its surface with a nail to suggest that the wood was attacked by woodworm. Finally, a coat of betún de Judea or black walnut ink helps us to highlight the blows and the holes we have made while giving them a more real appearance. Finally, we apply the wax that will protect the furniture and give it the appearance of old woods.
