Umesh Pal kidnapping case: Prayagraj Court sentences Atiq Ahmed to life imprisonment

Prayagraj MP-MLA Court sentenced mafia-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed to life imprisonment. Court also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on gangster Atiq Ahmed in 2007 Umesh Pal kidnapping case. The Court convicted Atiq Ahmed, and prime accused Dinesh Pasi and Khan Saulat Hanif in the case. However, Umesh Pal’s family members demanded the death sentence for Atiq Ahmed. Meanwhile, Atiq’s brother Ashraf Ahmed and seven others were acquitted by the Prayagraj Court. Atiq Ahmed was brought from Gujarat’s Sabarmati Jail to Prayagraj’s Naini jail on Mar 27. Umesh Pal, the prime witness in the 2005 murder of BSP MLA Raju Pal, was murdered on Feb 24.
