We keep all the good and in depth info here https://tinhouse-studio.com/studio-ac... Are expensive lights actually better — or are we just addicted to expensive logos? In this video I get into the uncomfortable conversation around budget lighting like Godox versus high-end systems like Broncolor — and why so much of the debate is driven by ego, insecurity, and industry snobbery rather than real-world results. Yes, there are differences. Build quality. Colour consistency. Reliability. Rental house credibility. But do those differences justify the price gap for most working photographers? Or are we convincing ourselves that more expensive kit automatically means more professional work? I’ve shot commercial jobs with both ends of the spectrum, and the truth is far less romantic than the marketing departments would like you to believe. We also get into sensor size — from Micro Four Thirds, APS-C, Full Frame, through to Medium Format — and the obsession photographers have with “bigger is better.” Is full frame still the gold standard? Is medium format actually necessary? Are smaller sensors really holding you back — or is that just another form of gear hierarchy? There’s a lot of subtle class signalling in photography. Certain brands, certain formats, certain price tags. But clients don’t hire you because your light costs more. They hire you because you solve problems and deliver. This episode isn’t anti–high-end kit. It’s anti–blind snobbery. If you’ve ever felt pressured to upgrade, judged for shooting “cheap” gear, or wondered whether you’re missing out by not going bigger — this one’s for you. #photographybusiness #commercialphotography #godox #broncolor #mediumformat #fullframe #photographygear You can find me on; Instagram / scottchoucino Facebook Group / 18930. .
