It was a huge honour to be selected as one of the streamers to get 'drops' during this time, I had a memorable & crazy time doing a 24 hour stream on Tuesday 4th Jan, streaming Escape From Tarkov, and then to top it all off, to be invited to have my show rebroadcast on the Battlestate Games Twitch Channel as part of the celebrations for the end of the Drops event was HUGE! I did a lot of prep for this, (as usual lol) building on the existing set of OBS scenes I have for my 'Tarkov World' livestreams - and made the special new intro and scenes with me flying in on top of the latest addition to the game AIRDROPS! The whole thing was live, and went insanely well with soooo many viewers and new folks following! I had the idea a while ago, as my Twitch Livestreaming OBS visual skills have developed, to make 'virtual' scenes around the Tarkov world, and do a DJ set completely devoted to Tarkov & the whole Russian vibe associated with it! The aim to make it look as though I was DJing on stage in famous locations you'd recognise from various maps - alongside random dancing scavs & other Russian stuff! Just to generally celebrate all things Tarkov, give the Tarkov community a bit of a laugh, and introduce my DNB Music fans & followers to the whole thing - while having a blast smashing out some DNB on-stream! I made all the background visuals here over a couple of weeks originally (then another whole week for all the newer scenes back in June - then ANOTHER day in December doing the new Lighthouse ones), using a combination of Photoshop & After Effects for some of the prep (like rotoscoping Pestily's dancing Killa clip & some other dancing army guys etc), then final video editing of the scenes in Final Cut X to import into OBS as backgrounds & layers, to sandwich the webcam into, so I fit convincingly into the 'world'. Also made a big background 'VJ' style video to play on the big screens and other backgrounds that cycle throughout the set - embedded in areas of the backgrounds I set up with their own 'greenscreen' type areas to chroma key out (some had to be blue or magenta, for example in OLI as there's already lots of green in the image). There's also alternative 'lasers' and 'when wipe' background videos that get incorporated to some other scenes when I wanted them more prominently. Complicated stuff, but most importantly this performance was all completely LIVE and streamed on Twitch. I did the first one of these back in April, then another just before the wipe in June so there's some 'when wipe' related stuff in here - along with the fogggg from the fog event around then too! Until August I was running all the visuals off OBS on a high end 2020 MacBook pro, but it just couldn't handle the demands on the CPU - so I'm now running my visuals out of a really solid PC (5800x / 3080) which has been an (expensive) lifesaver! Hopefully you're noticing it in the improved video resolution, frame-rate and overall quality now! I plan on doing these Tarkov sets every couple of months, I'll be adding more scenes from more maps and locations to future ones & hopefully more cameos from folks in the Tarkov community! I stream DJ sets on Wednesday, Friday & Saturday nights live on twitch at 8pm (UK)   / johnbbeta   (and play Tarkov on stream on Tuesdays too!).
