A Slight Odyssey (November 10 2018)

Yer' bullfrog is back with another one, which is almost a full-fledged odyssey! We begin in Ellicott City, where apparently no demolition has taken place yet. Rumor has it that alternatives to demolition are being discussed...let's hope that's true! Then a run to Frederick MD where we pick up US 15 (both current and original) to Thurmont, home of Camp David, the presidential retreat-and the junction of the Western Maryland RY and the onetime Frederick and Thurmont trolley line (classic photos included). From there, we cross Catoctin and South Mountains to the Hagerstown valley, with a stop at the former WMRY station there. Then, westward ho...for a bit, anyway. We'll see the historic Wilson Bridge (1813) and then...a visit to a cave yer' frog explored in 1985! Photos included of that visit. The entrance requires a bit of a climb up a steep hill, but I somehow made it. Lastly, we'll see Clear Spring, which derived its name from a clear spring! Of course, we still pass through all those quaint hamlets and localities which make for a very intriguing drive. Wouldn't have it any other way. Come along and enjoy! P.S. Please forgive any ads.
