Kallstadt on the German Wine Route is a local community in the Bad Dürkheim district in Rhineland-Palatinate. It belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde of Freinsheim. The paternal grandparents of the 45th US President Donald Trump and the grandparents of Heinz Ketchup founder Henry John Heinz come from Kallstadt, which brought the community national fame. The Heinz and Trumps are also related to each other. There was once a synagogue on site, which has since been converted into a residential building. The Kallstadt municipal council consists of 16 council members who were elected in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a personalized proportional representation, and the honorary local mayor as chairman. The residents of the community are nicknamed Brulljesmacher, “show-off and joker,” by the residents of neighboring villages. The German Wine Route Marathon has been taking place there since 1998.
