Todd Wade has been suffering from chronic sinus infections for 10 years. He made an appointment to see Dr. Charles Katz, an Ears, Nose and Throat Specialist at Alta View Hospital. Dr. Katz decided surgery would be the best option.Many people will associate sinus problems with allergies. Dr. Katz says that is not always the case. So some are associated with allergies, but there are other people who have nasal polyps or just narrowed openings in-between the sinuses in the nose, or other inflammatory conditions.Before surgery is considered, doctors will first try medications. They will also do a CT scan to get a better idea of what is going on in the sinuses. If doctors decide to do surgery, they will use the CT scans to help them navigate through the sinus cavity. The surgery takes a few hours and patients will go home the same day. Todd Wade had no reservations about the surgery, despite some horror stories he heard. Lots of people warned me beforehand and said it was a horrible surgery; lots of pain; it doesnt always work. And they were wrong.If you have chronic sinus problems, be sure to see your doctor.
