Cox’s Bazar, with its beautiful coastline, carries a dreadful reality: it is one of Bangladesh's most vulnerable areas for human trafficking, where traffickers deceive individuals with false promises of a better life! Jamal (pseudonym) is one of the countless victims lured into trafficking in Cox’s Bazar. After enduring unimaginable hardships abroad and facing stigma upon his return, Jamal found justice and support through USAID’s Fight Slavery and Trafficking-in-Persons (FSTIP) Activity, implemented by Winrock International. With psychosocial counseling, life skills training, and legal assistance from the Task Force formed with the support of FSTIP activity, Jamal gained the strength to fight back, filed a case against his traffickers and justice was served! In this episode, watch how USAID’s FSTIP Activity supported Jamal with the courage and determination to fight back that resulted in the conviction of his traffickers at the Cox’s Bazar Anti Human Trafficking Offence Tribunal. As we observe the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, let’s raise our voices to support survivors and amplify the call to end violence in all its forms. Stay tuned for more stories in this series as we spotlight the fight against human trafficking by promoting justice, equity, and human rights!
