Sailing across the EQUATOR! Tuvalu to Kiribati Crossing the EQUATOR! - Tuvalu to Kiribati -6 days AT SEA EP61 || Sailing the Pacific Sadly , it's our last day in Tuvalu. We hire a very bouncy moped and check out out with immigration and customs. We stop off at the local Maneaba ( meeting house) where the Vaitupu community are celebrating their ‘Happiest Day’ with much singing , dancing and laughter. After a peaceful final night at anchor in Funafuti, we complete our final checks and start our trip north for the 700 nm trip to Kiribati. We have a wonderful crossing with calm seas and just enough wind to sail. King Neptune arrives in time to conduct our Equator Crossing Ceremony as we transition from Pollywogs to Shellbacks! We had no sailing experience whatsoever, so the past few years have been a huge learning curve. We thought it might be fun to document our travels for anyone thinking of following a similar lifestyle. So far we have visited 7 different countries and sailed over 13,000 nautical miles. We have had many unique experiences that would not have been possible in our prior life and we don’t regret a second.
