This track is a protest track for the trans and LGBT community - Are you a friend of Dorothy - used to be secret code within the gay community to ask if someone was gay or not. How could I do a concept album around The Wizard Of Oz and not do a track called Friends of Dorothy as many gay people loved and adored Judy Garlands play of the character in the film. Many creative types who make the world a brighter place are a part of the |LGBT community and without them the world would be very dull dark and boring. As the song says you don't have to be gay to understand that people should be able to live their life without prejudice or hate or hostility and our rights are becoming better in many places but there are many places that its still punished by death and could easily be undone in other countries too.
