Lightweight Concrete Strength Testing - Modified Perlite 4:1 Mix Ratio

This next demonstration in our Lightweight Concrete Showdown is the first test panel that has additives to, theoretically, give increased strength to the lightweight concrete. This test block is made of a 4:1 perlite to portland cement mix that has fiberglass strands and PVA added to see what difference this makes in the strength to weight ratio tests we have been doing. Just like the other lightweight concrete panels, this test block spans 28 inches and is 1 inch thick. Weight is added to find out just how much they can bear before it cracks and fails. To compare lightweight concrete mixes based on strength performance, we first made and tested a regular (full weight) concrete / mortar control test block. Testing these lightweight concrete mix designs for the strength to weight ratio can be very useful information for real world applications.
