Former RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan has said the Union Budget 2026-27 should go beyond short-term measures and be aligned with a long-term vision to make the Indian economy more resilient, independent and sustainably fast-growing. In an interview with PTI Videos, Rajan described the current global environment as an “extremely dangerous time” but also one filled with opportunities, particularly from investments in Artificial Intelligence. Rajan stressed the need for deeper reforms, better integration into global supply chains, and stronger economic relationships with countries across Europe, East Asia, the Middle East, Australia, Canada and India’s neighbours. He said India must use global uncertainty as an opportunity to reinsert itself into global trade networks. He also cautioned against unsustainable, “helter-skelter” growth, warning that some infrastructure and housing investments may not yield long-term returns if not carefully planned. Rajan expressed hope that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s upcoming Budget will lay the groundwork for durable growth while improving India’s resilience. #UnionBudget2026 #RaghuramRajan #IndianEconomy #BudgetExpectations #EconomicReforms #GlobalSupplyChains #IndiaGrowth #AIeconomy #BusinessNews #ptinews #ptivideos #presstrustofindia Subscribe to PTI's YouTube channel for in-depth reports, exclusive interviews, and special visual stories that take you beyond the headlines. #PTIVideos PTI News : ptinews.com PTI Fact Check : ptinews.com/factcheck/factcheck.aspx PTI X (formerly Twitter): https://x.com/PTI_News PTI Instagram: / ptinews_multimedia PTI Facebook: / presstrustofindia
