In this exciting travel adventure, join us on our travel vlog as we embark on a journey from bustling Guatemala City to the serene beauty of the deepest lake in Central America - Lake Atitlan. We always wanted to travel Guatemala so here we go! We took an Uber, shuttle, and ferry, taking you from the city to the picturesque town of Panajachel. From there, we hopped on a local boat, known as a "lancha," to reach San Marcos La Laguna, a sleepy little lakeside town. Surrounded by the beauty of three volcanoes, Lake Atitlan is one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, often compared to and called the Lake Como of Central America. The three giants, as they are locally known, are called San Pedro, Atitlán, and Tolimán, a truly magnificent sight in an amazing journey in the heart of Guatemala's Sololá department. Of course, we traveled during the rain season so we had a bit of weather-related delays... our two-day stay at the hostel in San Marcos was an unforgettable experience, not in a great way unfortunately. We wanted to immerse ourselves in the rich Mayan culture of the region, captivated by its unique charm and see things like rituals and dances, but unfortunately could not. Recording in the town was tough and the one full day we had, it was a day of nothing but rain, thunder and lightning. We would not at all recommend staying at Free Cerveza Hostel based on our experience but if you do decide to go visit Lake Atitlan, we'd love to recommend the colorful, vibrant Panajachel; it would be our top choice for a return visit to this stunning part of Guatemala. #guatemala #lakeatitlan #centralamerica #travel #travelvlog #travelling Be sure to follow us on our other socials!
