Dr Karen Dawe joined us in February 2026 for her talk: “Most published research findings are false” Is that true, and what does it mean for digital health? In this talk, Dr Dawe explores why many scientific findings—particularly in psychology, medicine, and other fields underpinning digital health—struggle with reproducibility and bias. Using insights from the “science of science,” the session examines how digital health professionals can identify unreliable evidence, avoid common research pitfalls, and ensure the tools they build rest on solid scientific foundations. It highlights practical ways we can all contribute to improving the quality and credibility of digital health research. Karen Dawe is a Lecturer and Director of Science Communication in the LEAP Digital Health Hub at the University of Bristol. The Digital Health Seminar Series is a collaboration between LEAP Digital Health Hub and the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Digital Health and Care at the University of Bristol.
