El Árbol de la Noche Victoriosa es mejor conocido como el Árbol de la Noche Triste. El nombre fue cambiado oficialmente en 2021 en conmemoración del aniversario 500 de aquella victoria. Por desgracia, hoy en día el árbol está muerto, pero los eventos de la noche del 30 de junio de 1520 todavía nos acompañan. La plaza, también rebautizada, es el sitio en donde se detuvieron Hernán Cortés y sus hombres después de huir de Tenochtitlán y los ejércitos mexicas. Se cree que fueron cargados con oro robado que se había fundido en lingotes solo unas horas antes. Los mexicas y sus aliados lograron una victoria parcial contra los invasores españoles esa noche. Se dice que Cortés, vencido, se dejó llorar debajo de este mismo árbol. The Tree of the Victorious Night is better known as the Tree of the Sad Night. The name was officially changed in 2021 to commemorate the 500th anniversary of that victory. Sadly, the tree is dead today, but the events of the night of June 30, 1520, still haunt us. The plaza, also renamed, is the site where Hernán Cortés and his men stopped after fleeing Tenochtitlán and the Aztec armies. It is believed they were loaded with stolen gold that had been melted down into ingots just hours before. The Aztecs and their allies achieved a partial victory against the Spanish invaders that night. It is said that Cortés, defeated, mourned beneath this very tree.
