The IFAC classification includes seven types of frontoethmoidal cells, categorized by their position relative to the frontal sinus drainage pathway (FSDP). These cells are classified as anterior, posterior, or medial, and their extent into the frontal sinus is also considered. Anterior cells: Agger nasi cell (ANC), Supra agger cell (SAC), Supra agger frontal cell (SAFC) tend to shift the FSDP anteriorly, medially, or posteromedially. Posterior cells: Supra bulla cell (SBC), Supra bulla frontal cell (SBFC), Supraorbital ethmoid cell (SOEC)) tend to shift the FSDP posteriorly. Medial cells: The Frontal septal cell (FSC) is the only medial cell, and it tends to shift the FSDP laterally. It helps surgeons understand how these cells might affect frontal sinus drainage and surgical approaches.
