How to remove the front bumper on the Vauxhall Astra H MK5 How to remove the headlamps on the Vauxhall Astra H MK5 If it is convenient jack the front of the car and place on axel stands. This will allow you to turn the wheels by hand which will aid tool access when removing the torx screws from the wheel arches. Remove 2 T20 Torx screws from the rear edge of the bumper at the front of the front wheel arches. Open the Bonnet and remove 4 trim clips from the top side of the grill using a grommet removal tool such as Bojo ATH-3-NGL. If the clips have a plug in the center this may need pressing down to "unlock" the clips and allow them to be pryed out. Using a large pry tool such as Bojo LTF-2-UNGL insert the tool between the paint work and the plastic base or the grill and gently pry the grille straight up starting at one side and gradually moving the tool along as there are 6 clip locations holding the grille to the bumper. Once the grille is removed notice 2 more trim clips that have been uncovered at each side close to the headlamps. Remove the trim clips. Use a grommet pry tool such as ATH-3-XNGL to pull the centers of the trim clips out of the 3 clips underneath the car attaching the bumper to the sub frame, they do not need removing completely only pulling out about 15-20mm. Once all 3 are pulled out you can pull the plastic away from the subframe. If foglights are fitted while under the car look where the foglamps are and disconnect the wiring for the foglights. Pull the sides of the bumper out gently placing your hands at the top rear edge of the bumper nearest the wheelarches. Now go to the center of the car and using a small head tool such as ATH-1-XNGL to press the plastic down in 6 locations in the center where the grille was. At the same time use your other hand to pull the bumper away from the front of the car. When the bumper comes free notice the wiring to the temperature sensor and follow it to pull the sensor out of position. The bumper will now be completely detached. To remove the headlamp assemblies notice 3 8mm screws holding the headlamps in position and remove them, 2 on the top and 1 underneath. Remove the piece of polystyrene that is under the headlamp on the bumper re-inforcement bar. Now you will be able to pull the headlamp assembly away from the car and find the wiring connect at the bottom of the assembly closest to the wing. You may need a pry tool to remove the connector such as ATH-55-XNGL.
