This is not your ordinary market place, what it’s like negotiating on the streets (or parking area) of a premier city like Makati beside an international school (Asian Institute of Management) on a typical Sunday morning. Founded in 2005 by Mara Pardo de Tavera who also operated a similar weekend bazaar in Greenbelt Park in the 90s, the market features a wide variety of products for sale including farm fresh & organic produce, homemade local & international foods including a strictly vegetarian, natural personal care products, kitchenware, trinkets & artisan crafts. Street markets have been one of the more popular tourist spots in the Philippines (heard of Divisoria & Baclaran? LOL). But unlike these 2 widely-popular markets in Tondo & Baclaran, the Legazpi & its sister Salcedo Saturday Market (open once a week only) are rather small, open-air markets but clean & more organized with more quality goods you can purchase (or you can just explore without buying anything even just hanging out in nearby parks). Despite a significant crowd, it still follows safety & health protocols against COVID-19 well sort of. The Legazpi Sunday Market opens at 7 AM to 2 PM every Sundays in Corinthian Carpark beside AIM along Paseo de Roxas Avenue (to move back to original Legazpi Active Park as soon as the construction of a multi-level parking building is completed). Now, let’s find some interesting foods & items that we never heard of nor normally find anywhere else – only in Legazpi Sunday Market!
