Sarasota Florida: Ringling Museum Virtual Tour Is Like Visiting Italy (2021)

The Ringling Museum in Sarasota Florida is like visiting Italy without leaving Florida. I take a virtual tour through the many art galleries in The Ringling Museum which is said to be the most important fine art collection in all of Florida. If you are anywhere near Sarasota Florida, visiting this museum is one of the best things to do in Sarasota. If The Ringling Museum grounds look like Italy, that’s because it is modeled on the Uffizzi Gallery in Florence Italy. It even has a bronze cast of the statue of David by Michaelangelo, similar to the marble copy of David outside the Uffizzi in Florence. If you don’t know, John Ringling is from the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus. This museum was finished in 1931 and eventually went into disrepair after his death. In 2000 Florida State University was given the governance of the museum and with state money and matching private donations has brought the museum and the grounds back to life. The museum is a must see if you are in the area. If you can’t get to Italy this summer, visiting The Ringling Museum and grounds may be the next best thing. Come along for this virtual tour of probably the most important fine art collection in all of Florida.
