MOSCOW, Idaho — It’s been almost two months since Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Ethan Chapin, and Xana Kernodle were murdered at their off-campus home. The Goncalves family said they felt like a weight was lifted off their shoulders when they learned of Bryan Kohberger’s arrest. “The feeling of relief is nearly palpable. It felt like you were taller. Like it felt like you could breathe a little deeper, and that was unexpected,” said Alivea Goncalves, Kaylee Goncalves’ sister. Alivea says she doesn’t want to give the suspected killer any satisfaction. “This individual doesn’t get to see how he hurt me. He doesn’t get to see how his actions affect me personally, mentally, emotionally. I don’t have to give him that,” Goncalves said. As the quest for justice begins, the family wants the victims’ names to be remembered when thinking of the tragedy. Goncalves told ABC News that her sister and Mogen did everything right the night of their murders, like going to places they were familiar with and catching a ride back home. Mogen and Goncalves were the best of friends and were inseparable. “It was more than a friendship. It really was a sisterhood that wasn’t ever broken by anything,” Goncalves. Alivea says the roommates in the house loved to have fun but did it responsibly. The Goncalves family says they prepared for a somber moment when learning of Kohberger’s arrest, but instead it was more of a celebration. Alivea says the hardest part so far was the little to no information for weeks from law enforcement. However, they say they’re very thankful to the Moscow Police Department for catching the suspected killer. The arrest happened thousands of miles away at Kohberger’s family home in Pennsylvania. ABC News learned from law enforcement source that federal investigators observed Kohberger around 4 a.m. as he discarded his garbage in his neighbor’s bins, days before his arrest. The trash ended up being key in the case. Meanwhile, Goncalves says no explanation or motive from her sister’s killer will ever be good enough. “So, for me I think that we have four names that we can remember, and we should remember. That’s Kaylee Goncalves, Maddie Mogen, Ethan Chapin, and Xana Kernodle. As far as I’m concerned those are the only names we need to remember, and we need to know when thinking and remembering this tragedy,” Goncalves said. “You’re supposed to grow up together. That’s your god given best friend. We were supposed to do everything together.” ►Subscribe: / 4newsnow ►Website: http://www.kxly.com ►Twitter: / kxly4news ►Facebook: / kxly4news
