What happens when two artists with distinct practices come together in one of Tasmania’s most striking regional towns? This 16-minute film follows Maggie Jeffries and George Kennedy during a collaborative artist residency in Queenstown, lutruwita/Tasmania — a month of late night painting, exploring the town's natural landscape and industrial heritage, and working side-by-side. Together, they discuss how their collaborative painting process emerged and evolved, and how they invited the local community to co-create a large-scale artwork, which we see them they carry into the icy waters of Lake Burbury. A story of friendship, creative risk, and what it means to ‘meet in the middle’ — this film is both portrait and invitation. 0:00:15 Collaborative painting — wht makes it work? 0:01:34 Saying yes 0:01:48 A creative flurry 0:03:02 Respect for each other’s practice 0:03:38 An entirely new practice 0:04:33 No pressure 0:05:12 This is sick!
