In this powerful episode, we witness one of the most defining moments in Islamic history — the liberation of Jerusalem by Sultan Salahuddin Ayyubi. After the decisive victory at the Battle of Hattin, Salahuddin laid siege to Jerusalem in 583 AH (1187 CE). Inside the city, Balian of Ibelin realized defeat was inevitable. Faced with threats, painful memories of the 1099 massacre, and the safety of thousands of captives, the Sultan stood at a crossroads between revenge and mercy. Instead of repeating history, Salahuddin chose justice over vengeance. 🔹 A peace treaty was signed. 🔹 Ransom was set — 10 dinars for men, 5 for women, 1 for children. 🔹 When thousands of poor Christians could not afford it, Salahuddin and his brother Al-Adil paid from their own wealth. 🔹 Al-Aqsa Mosque was cleansed with rose water. 🔹 The historic minbar prepared decades earlier by Nur ad-Din Zangi was installed. 🔹 After 88 years, the Adhan echoed once again in Jerusalem. But this victory shook Europe. United crusader kings — including Richard the Lionheart — began preparing for a massive counterattack. Will the freedom of Jerusalem survive? That story continues in the next episode… ❓ Questions Covered in This Episode What happened after the Battle of Hattin? Why did Balian of Ibelin seek peace from Salahuddin?
