Marvi Memon, a former Pakistani Minister, talks to the Paris Talks audience today about the gendered approach to UN Peacekeeping missions. The UN Peacekeeping has had a Gender Responsive focus for decades. The current book of Marvi Memon on 'Gender, Pakistan and UN Peacekeeping' underlines the challenges for executing Gender Responsive strategy in conflict zones and especially in UN peacekeeping missions with a special focus on Pakistan's contributions to the same. It proposes 'a Gender Reform Agenda' which needs to be undertaken at priori so that past issues of lack of Gender sensitivities which have plagued peacekeeping mission are eradicated. Marvi Memon is former Minister from Pakistan. She graduated from the London School of Economics and SciencesPo. During her 27 years of work experience she has worked in Citibank, been CEO of Pakistan's first satellite tracking company, been Media Advisor to the President, Advisor for Investments, and been a parliamentarian twice; Parliamentary Information Committee Chairperson, Chaired as Federal Minister the largest social safety net of Pakistan BISP. Ms. Memon has the distinction of being awarded the UK House of Commons Speaker Inaugural Democracy Award, the French Officier de Merite award and Membership of the World Bank Advisory Gender Council 2017.
